“My definition of holistic includes green juice and very loud rock n’ roll,” explains Danielle LaPorte. That pretty much encapsulates why we (and many, many others) love her so much. She’s sexy and self-aware with a sense of humor. She’s also well-balanced, embracing dualities like “pop culture and eastern mysticism; justified anger and deeply sweet empathy.”
Whether she’s offering “spiritual backup” or inspiring women to be the answer to their own questions, is striking a chord. Just ask her hundreds of thousands of followers who have already discovered her “truth bombs” and tapped into her spirited conversations on how to find your own truth… including Oprah herself! As a member of Oprah’s exclusive and author of the newly released book, “,” Danielle’s unique combination of encouragement and unfiltered honesty is what women want to hear.
Healthline was lucky enough to get a one-on-one with this modern-day guru and music lover. Of course, we wanted to know the important stuff… like what she eats on cheat days and what her favorite pick-me-up song is.
10 Questions with Danielle LaPorte
What are some of your favorite ways to relax and rejuvenate?
A mani-pedi with a girlfriend, a hot tub, or a road trip with a well-curated playlist.
Speaking of playlists, what’s your favorite inspirational or pick-me-up song?
Anything by Queen, played very, very loud. (Freddie Mercury is my spirit animal, you know.)
What are the three most important parts of your daily routine?
Meditate first thing, dance in the kitchen, and obsessively text girlfriends.
What’s your favorite healthy treat?
Kale chips that my friend Christina makes. I’ve tried to make many batches of kale chips myself, but it usually involves the smoke detector and a lot of disappointment.
And what about not-so-healthy indulgences? What do you eat on “cheat days”?
Chips. A lot of them. (And not the kale kind.)
What would you tell your 16-year-old self?
For where you’re headed, honey, algebra will not be required. Speak up and get to Europe as soon as you can.
What are you most grateful for right now?
That I’ve never given up on creating what I want to create.
Nature or nurture?
Mostly nature — the human spirit can rise above so much negative nurturing.
Sunshine or storms?
There’s nothing like a storm in New Mexico.
Truth or dare?
Truth. White, hot truth.
